Small Talk, Adria Bernardi's translation of the poetry of Raffaello Baldini,

was published in 2009 (Gradiva Publications).

She was selected as the recipient of the 2007 Raiziss/de Palchi Fellowship

of the Academy of American to complete this collection of poetry,

which is written in the Romagnole dialect and the Italian.

 


Siren's Song, a translation of the poetry and prose of Rinaldo Caddeo, (Chelsea Editions) was published in 2009. 

 

She has also translated Adventures in Africa by Gianni Celati;

Abandoned Places by Tonino Guerra; and Page Proof, by Raffaello Baldini

 

 

She is the author of two novels, Openwork, and, The Day Laid on the Altar,

which was awarded the 1999 Bakeless Prize by Andrea Barrett.  

A collection of short stories, In the Gathering Woods, was awarded the 2000 Drue Heinz Literature Prize by Frank Conroy. 

 

 

She is the author of an oral history, Houses with Names:

The Italian Immigrants of Highwood, Illinois.

 

She has taught fiction writing at the Warren Wilson MFA Program for Writers

and has taught at Clark University in Worcester, Mass.
